Marketing activities for early stage technologies is somewhat different from the traditional marketing for established companies.  Emerging technology businesses utilizing the SBIR program for funding are often times “technology driven” vs. “market driven.” The technology is developed first and then the market is determined.
Identification of current or future customers willing to buy your products or services is essential to efficiently focus on both early stage research and subsequent product development.  Without a focus and hopefully a market driven product specification, the SBIR award will be nothing more than a science project.   This activity must start as soon as there is initial funding.  A delay in this effort will reduce the effective use of the SBIR funds.

PBC can provide a structured marketing plan to quickly transition the technology focus to a market focus.  Necessary resources are utilized to evaluate market possibilities, establish a viable value proposition(s), identify key customers, and establish early stage specifications.  Depending on the SBIR funding agency, there may be additional funding outside the SBIR program to support more focused product development.   PBC evaluates these development funding opportunities as well.
